Mothering
What might mothers and mothering reveal to us about a better model for economic kindness and innovation?

On Mother's Day, it's worth considering the ways that we have been mothered and cared for (and not) – as well as our missed opportunities and losses. Our society disallows and undervalues the mothering experiences humans need to participate in a good way with natural systems and encourages dominant, domineering, or dominion postures and narratives. Looking squarely at this imbalance and embracing mothering as a model might show us a new economic paradigm that could reveal opportunities and paths to new ways of experiencing society and each other and designing the systems we rely on for community.
In Mothering Economy, Swedish design strategist and architect (but also ethicist, feminist, and philosopher) Jenny Grettve proposes a new way for us to imagine how we have learned care and generosity might be better models for innovation, social ethics, and new economic models.

A raw and personal exploration by design strategist and architect Jenny Grettve. Through systemic thinking, she shares her own perspectives on the current and brutal metacrisis, on patriarchy and wars, on tenderness and hope, while taking the reader on a journey of philosophy, economy and caring futures.
A deeply personal and worthy read – and a wonderful way to celebrate Mother's Day, no matter your relationship to mothers and mothering.
